Whether it is for editing Vogue, their parenting, political views or having their mansion renovated at the cost of the taxpayer, Prince Harry and Meghan are never out of the headlines.

Their actions since last year’s wedding have raised eyebrows amongst some members of the public, while others have been vociferously defending the couple.

They are certainly a hot topic – and OnePoll was commissioned by The Sunday Express to carry out a survey on how UK adults view the couple, looking at how they raise their children and whether they should be using public money to fund their lifestyle.

We have asked our panel to share their opinions on the debate, with just over one-third (38 per cent) of those polled defining themselves as royalists. Half of the respondents said they weren’t royalists while 11 per cent either didn’t know or preferred not to say.

A number of people have been quick to criticise the Duchess for editing September’s edition of Vogue – but they were accused of being hypocritical by OnePollers because a number of Royals have edited magazines and radio shows in the past.

Kate has even graced the cover of Vogue, while Meghan opted against appearing on the front page of the edition she edited. Our poll found 57 per cent thought criticism was hypocritical, with 67 per cent of royalists agreeing.

Our poll also revealed just 27 per cent thought Meghan should have included the Queen on the front cover of Vogue, while 39 per cent of royalists were in agreement.

One subject OnePollers could agree on was the subject of funding. The vast majority (71 per cent) felt the public should not be funding Harry and Meghan’s lifestyle.

More than half (56 per cent) felt Harry and Meghan are right to be shielding their son Archie from the public, while 64 per cent of royalists feel the same.

And 38 per cent said Meghan is right to demand privacy when she is not ‘on duty’.

When Meghan married Prince Harry, she joined one of the world’s most famous families and would find herself under the spotlight more than most ‘A-list celebrities’.

More than one-third (38 per cent) didn’t think she was properly prepared for joining the Royal family, while 28 per cent thought she was.

It has been rumoured Meghan and Harry have been considering moving to Africa.  One-third thought it would be a good idea while 29 per cent disagreed. Thirty-Seven per cent said they didn’t know.

One-third said Meghan has had no impact on the image of the Royal family while 27 per cent said she had diminished the image versus 23 per cent who think she’s improved it.

The data which has been gathered for this blog was from our head of research at OnePoll, Mark Hodson which had to say “I guess this means no Knighthood for me?”

The country appears to be split over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Where do you stand?
