Has your honeymoon period expired? Take the test..

The honeymoon period lasts for 13 months and seven days after getting hitched, according to our survey of 2,000 UK adults.

Getting too comfortable around each other, the initial excitement wearing off and just knowing each better other are the top three hijackers of newlywed bliss.

And three in 10 people blame sheer laziness as a romance killer. But before women raise their eyebrows – they’re more likely to stop putting as much effort in as men.

Not bothering to look good for our partner, bickering more often and a dip in our sex lives were voted the top three tell-tale signs the honeymoon is over.

We’re also more honest about the things we don’t want to do anymore – refusing to visit restaurants we don’t like or sit through films we find boring just to please our spouse.

But it’s not all doom and gloom – 7 in 10 believe the spark can be rekindled after the initial burn out.

Listening to each other more was voted the best way to reignite the magic, followed by a romantic holiday and more date nights. Only 16 per cent believed time apart can actually be beneficial for a relationship.

Yet some unfortunate Brits can pinpoint the exact moment they knew the honeymoon period was over.

One philanderer new the honeymoon was over when he started fantasising about having sex with other women.

Another unlucky newlywed discovered his wife was having an affair only three weeks after exchanging ‘I dos’.

A particularly shy wife noticed her increased level of annoyance when her husband tried to be the life and soul of every party – and his repeated wisecracks which changed from cute and funny to intolerable.
