Money is Britain’s biggest concern according to our latest survey for ITV. 80% of UK adults are worried about their money in the current financial climate with 40% of the 1,000 adults more worried about their finances than sex or relationships.
The survey, commissioned as research for the Tonight programme, looked at the state of the UK’s savings and uncovered some alarming statistics.
Worryingly 15% admit to having no savings at all with 32% having less than £500 put aside to cover unexpected costs. 55% of people also admitted to spending their entire month’s wages (or more) each month. In fact, 69% admit to not feeling completely in control of their finances.
Many of these fears have been sparked by the Bank Of England’s announcement in August that they have cut the interest rate to just 0.25% which is the lowest it has been in its 322-year history.
