After months of speculating, post-Clarkson Top Gear has made it to our screens. The verdict is in and sadly, as far as the critics go, it’s bad news.
But what do their viewers think? The Sun commissioned a survey of 1,000 adults who watched the first episode to find out.
The main complaint was that Chris Evans shouted too much, with 70% not liking his presenting style. 53% felt he was trying too hard to imitate Jeremy Clarkson.
Reviews were slightly kinder to co-star, Matt Le Blanc, with 48% preferring him to Evans.
Overall, however, viewers’ feedback was less than favourable with 20% saying they won’t tune in next time, and only 10% watched the sister show, Extra Gear, on BBC3 online. In contrast, 60% say they’d rather watch the old team’s upcoming Grand Tour series on Amazon Prime.
