In the workplace, millions of office workers have experienced injuries. Have you been the victim of a workplace incident?
In this project with Contour, we delved into the conversation, finding that 78 per cent of office employees have experienced issues such as backaches, knee pain and joints issues. Most surprisingly, close to half of office workers face back pains, with a fifth of Brits experience tingling or numbness in their fingers and hands due to excessive typing.
Kirsty Angerer, the Travelling Ergonomist expert for Contour, said: “Contrary to popular opinion, it is not just those who work in jobs requiring physical activity – or in workplaces with obvious risk hazards – that are regularly affected by office injuries. Office workers will want to take preventative measures to ensure this doesn’t affect them. I believe that there is an inherent opportunity to enhance people’s performance.”
Just under four in 10 British workers know how high their monitor should be to prevent injury and a third being are unaware of how to sit to maintain good posture. Most notably, hard-working adults will be at their desks for three hours at a time, only standing for a total of just 28 minutes during a working day.
Contour is a design company that release products that reduce the chance of office workers running into injuries within the workplace.
