Have you ever been on the receiving end of questions such as; ‘Are you going to get on the property ladder?’, ‘Have you got a job yet?’ and ‘Who are you going to vote for in the next election?’. These are just some of the awkward questions Brits are asked over the festive period.
During this project with Hasbro, we polled 2,000 Brits finding that four in 10 expect to be on the receiving end of an ‘awkward question’, and a fifth try to bypass any question on their love status as well as their religious beliefs. As a result of these awkward conversations, Brits are now finding new ways to avoid these conversations, with some Brits even hiding in the toilet or pretending to take a phone call!
Kay Green From Hasbro Inc. said: “With distant family visiting at Christmas, it’s inevitable there’s going to be small talk and personal question about your job or love life. We know that people are passionate about playing games and that gaming brings families closer together for fun, meaningful, quality time.”
Additionally, our research found that Brits in-laws are the main culprit for asking those questions.
Here are Brits most feared questions
- Have you put on weight?
- What’s your new year’s resolution?
- Who are you going to vote for in the next election?
- Is marriage/ engagement on the cards?
- Have you got a job yet?
