The average American can expect to spend $138,866 on chores during their lifetime. That’s according to our survey for American household help providers, TaskRabbit.

The study of 2,000 US adults found that Americans spend 14 hours a week doing daily chores, which includes 2 hours 12 minutes doing the washing, laundry, and the ironing. the same amount of time on errands outside the home and 2 hours and 16 minutes cleaning and organising. This is in comparison to only 4 hours relaxing each week.

Scrubbing the toilet on all fours is the most hated chore of all time, with washing dishes, doing laundry and cleaning the bath also amongst the most hated jobs.

The survey was part of a marketing campaign by the brand and was accompanied by an infographic designed by our in-house design studio. The story and the infographic were featured on a range of sites including the MailOnline.
